Subterranean fishes are found on every continent, in many different environments from shallow caves to deep phreatic groundwater. Over 125 species of obligate subterranean fishes (stygobites or stygobionts) are now known, and the rate of discovery is so high that there could be 250 known species by 2050.
This book is the first comprehensive account of all known species since 1969. It includes an extensive introduction, including a complete systematic checklist, a history of investigations, a consideration of non-stygobitic fishes in caves, and a detailed analysis of the conservation status of these very rare animals. The main part of the book consists of an account for each species.
Each species account contains details of systematics and taxonomy, distribution, habitat, other biological details, and a listing of all known publications on that species. Details of these publications are given in the extensive bibliography which is the first attempt to list all publications on subterranean fishes. There are currently over 2000 publications in the list. There are a number of appendices and the book is completed by an extensive "Note added in press" which contains information on species described and references published, during the final editing and production phase of the book.

Добрый день, Сергей.

Книги в Вашем списке относятся к довольно специализированной литературе.
Обычно такие книги интересны либо ихтиологам, либо жителям тех стран, рыб которых и описывают эти книги.

По знакомству с некоторыми такими книгами, могу сказать, что большой информации в них нет. Даны правда рисунки либо фотографии большинства рыб, но не указываются морфологические или анатомические отличия.

Из всех отмеченных Вами книг я в свое время интересовался только "Freshwater Fishes of Mexico". И хочу со временем заказать ее. Не так много книг о рыбах южной части северной и латинской Америки. В книге неплохие цветные фотографии биотопов. Есть разделы об ихтиогеографии Мексики.

Но все-таки при выборе книг я отдаю предпочтение книгам по группам и родам рыб, которыми я увлекаюсь.

По поводу монографии "Monograph of the Cyprinid Fishes of the Genus Garra" я читал несколько неплохих отзывов, как о серьезно проделанной работе. Но, так как она только недавно появилась, большого количества отзывов еще нет.

Хотелось бы добавить, что именно в таких книгах как раз имеется информация о морфологии и биологии видов. К тому же в отличие от аквариумных книг, часто приводятся отличительные признаки в виде примечаний или ключей.
Если у кого будет информация о книге Дмитрия Серова о наличии цветных фото, поделитесь пожалуйста.
Хотя больше интересуют морские рыбы, но от хорошей книги по пресноводным видам не откажусь.

Если у кого будет информация о книге Дмитрия Серова о наличии цветных фото, поделитесь пожалуйста.

Как раз в этой книге для большинства рыб дается их диагностика, включая диаметр глаза, размеры, у многих - формулы плавников.
Также включая и цветные фотографии многих видов.

Ещё 10 лет назад, когда познакомился с Серовым, он был уже хорошим специалистом по Вьетнамским рыбам, так что думаю, такую книжку можно иметь в своей библиотеке.

About the Book

Bangladesh being a huge delta formed by the Giant rivers - Padma (Ganges, Jamuna, Brahmaputra) and the Meghna and their innumerable tributaries, has one of the richest inland fishery resources of the world. The ecological characteristics of the county are ideally suited for development of aquatic life and as such the fish fauna of the country is varied and rich in terms of biodiversity.

The present book dealing with freshwater bony fishes only includes 265 species under 154 genera and 55 families. A key to the major groups of freshwater fishes as to orders or sub-orders. A brief description of each order or sub-order is given and keys separating the families, genera and species have been provided. The second edition provides more updated description, identification keys and illustrations of all the species including their current status and availability. This edition incorporates pictures and figures of all the recorded species including colored photographs of most of the species.

Supplemented by a comprehensive reference list and index for scientific work of reference for every one involved in the study of ichthyology and fishery. Apart from the above features the book provides a review of literature on the subject, short accounts on physical features of the land, climate, fish habitat, leading features of the fauna, vernacular names and historical perspective of the exotic species introduced in the country.
