Apteronotus camposdapazi, new species,from the Rio Tocantins basin, Goiás state, Brazil, is diagnosed by the presence of a white or yellow band on the chin, the dorsal surface of the head and mid-dorsum extending to the beginning of the origin of the mid-sagittal electroreceptive filament; two lights bands on the caudal peduncle
throughout ontogeny; and a light brown band on the mid-lateral portion of the body.
